PSA Bad Day

I don't do non-music stuff on here, but I'll make an exception so that someone may stumble upon this via old father Google in their time of need.

If your O2 Wireless Box is showing a flashing orange power light and a flashing green LAN light, you may NOT need a new box. Connect the box to your PC via a LAN cable. Get the O2 CD, go into Software, O2, Utilities, and run the file that starts RT-585... etc...

Pro-tip! If you're running Windows 7 64 Bit, it will have some kind of fit and claim you're not running a good enough OS. Right click it, select Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Run it again.

Fingers crossed, it should be fixed.

Lighting that makes the artist look like they should be viewed using 3D glasses is unhelpful. You may use this photo of Alphabeat from tonight as a "how not to" guide.

Also "the big red light" is nobody's friend. It meant this nice picture of Eliza Doolittle has to be black and white.

Surely I'm due a break on the shit lighting front soon?

All Days Are Nights

Rufus Wainwright at the Apollo last night. I understand that at a seating gig you have to make concessions as to where you're allowed to shoot from, but behind speaker stacks make for a physical impossibility. Got some great shots of a disembodied head for the first half. Shame.

Sit Down

Literally the worst gig I've ever shot yesterday. The band weren't on stage for the whole of the first song, and the lighting was damn near unworkable for the other two. Hopeless.

Perhaps surprisingly, my first time at the Deaf Institute. Lighting not as bad as I'd feared, but hard to move and the security didn't help too much. Microphone casting a shadow at just the wrong angle, too!

Can't Get Enough

I think I'm contractually obliged not to share any photos from Bad Company tonight, although it did say portfolio was allowed, so maybe I can add one to the front page, which is - to all intents and purposes - my portfolio.

Anyway, in the absence of my Bad Co pictures (which, let me assure you, are Quite Good) here's one of support act, one Mr Joe Perry...

Let's Start A Band

Amy Macdonald tonight at the Academy. Despite bright light, she was a bit too close to the microphone much of the time. Not that I'm unhappy with my shots.
